Location

    Apollo Hotel is in Aegina, the nearest island to Athens, is the renowned jewel of the Saronic Gulf, from prehistory to our day. Its port with the fine neoclassical buildings is dominated by the sight of the famous ancient column of the temple of god Apollo, a remnant of the times when the island had been the greatest naval force of Hellas. Today a walk from the fish-market to the house o N. Kazantzakis is worthwhile.
    The wonderful sunset at the seaside of Marathonas leads to the picturesque fishing village of Perdika where one can enjoy fresh fish in any of its family owned taverns.

    At the center of the island the famous pistachio trees characterize the landscape chosen also for the building of the monumental church of the patron saint of the island, St. Nectarios. A visit to the nearby churches of the early Christian era situated on the hill of Paleohora is recommended.
    Ag. Marina provides the possibility of both daytime swimming with a variety of sea sporting activities and a rich nightlife. The crown of the area, the temple of Afea (6th c. B.C.) -built overlooking the Saronic Gulf is one of the best-preserved temples of antiquity.
