Educational Program

 

The programs of study at the Liberty´s School are based on the Rotation System, a system which is widely spread and used with exceptional success in the United Kingdom and America, which is however adapted to the needs of Greek reality.

Specifically it aims to the awakening and preservation of attention of the child throughout the educational process, and this is achieved by the alternation of classrooms and teachers according to the activity being taught.

There are four year groups:

 

• Nursery class 2-3 years old
• Nursery class 3-4 years old
• Pre- kindergarten 4-5 years old
• Kindergarten 5-6 years old

Curriculum

 

The school provides a broad curriculum and all children have equal access. There is no National Curriculum for children under the age four, however our system provides an early year curriculum, something which will help the child to develop his awareness through experiences knowledge and form the foundations for learning. This goes for both the Greek and English program.

 

Curriculum for Pre- kindergarten and Kindergarten.

 

Based on the National Program of the Ministry of Education

 

• Linguistic and Literary
• Mathematical
• Environmental studies
• Aesthetic and Creative (art and craft, drama, music, physical education)

 

Curriculum for the English Language

 

The English language is taught by teachers who specialize in young children, and are native speakers. Throughout the day communication is in English and teachers foster a positive approach towards a second language. The areas of learning are also based on the National Program (above).

 

 

Introduction to Art

 

This subject concentrates on studio art and concerns the pre-kindergarten. Its focus is on the creation of art and craft and is a prerequisite for Art History.

 

 

Introduction to Art History

 

The studies of Art History is an exclusive subject at our school and concerns mainly kindergarten. It is taught by a qualified Art Historian and focuses mainly on Western Art. The ways in which it is implemented is by the means of theory and studio art. (painting, collage, mixed media, sketching).

In addition the school provides a monthly trip to the countries most famous museums.

The lesson of Art History aims to the appreciation of art and its so many dimensions. It is taught in a simplified and flexible way so as to get the maximum output from the child. The child, therefore, has the opportunity to express himself and show his talent.

 

 

Theater

 

The school program is furnished with visits to the theatrical plays for young children, and it concerns the ages from 3 years old and above.

Also, the school puts on a theatrical show at the end of each school year, where all children participate.

 

School organization

 

Liberty´s School is a private kindergarten and caters for children from 2 - 6 years old.

 

• School times 7 am - 5 pm
• School meals (breakfast - lunch)
• Swimming lesson at the Olympic Stadium (optional)
• Parents meeting (every last Wednesday of the month)
• A monthly examination takes place by a pediatrician.
• Psychological supervision for children and a monthly psychological seminar for the parents.
• Transportation by a school bus from and to the home.
• All children are insured.
• At the end of each year children´s files are given to parents.
