1974 - 2014: From establishment to date

The ANETH LINES S.A. was established in 1974 mainly by Thassian shareholders. Its establishment was aiming at the best service of marine transport needs of the island in an efficient way and in favor of the island residents. From its establishment to date, the company has built, acquired and operated ten ships in total. Today the company has three newly built ships, namely the open type double-ended roll-on/roll-off passenger ferries (ro-ro ferries), <THASSOS I> and <THASSOS II>, and the closed type roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry (ro-ro ferry), <ΘΑΣΟΣ VI> .

The Company employs fifty people, mainly Thassians, who work as crew on the ships or as officers in administrative services.

Special reference should be made to the incorporators of ANETH, and especially to its long-time president, the late Nikolaos D. Charitopoulos, who played a leading role in the Thassians having their own Shipping Company which ever since contributes significantly to the island’s growth.

FLEET

THASOS ΙI is certified to meet and apply the requirements of the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, as amended, and EC Regulation 3051/95 on the Safety Management of open type and closed type roll-on/roll-off passenger ferries (ro-ro ferries), as supplemented by Regulation 179/98. It applies the International Safety Management Code (ISM CODE) adopted by the International Marine Organization (IMO).
